Levofloxacin is in a group of antibiotics called fluoroquinolones (flor-o-KWIN-o-lones). Levofloxacin fights bacteria in the body.

Levofloxacin ophthalmic (for the eyes) is used to treat bacterial infections of the eyes.

It may also be used to prevent or slow the progression of anthrax after exposure. Doryx delayed-release capsules are a tetracycline antibiotic. It works by slowing the growth of bacteria. Slowing the bacteria's growth allows the body's immune system to destroy the bacteria.
