Prevacid SoluTab orally disintegrating tablets are a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). It works by decreasing the amount of acid produced in the stomach.

Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest or throat; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue; unusual hoarseness); bloody or watery stools; bone pain; chest, jaw, or arm pain; confusion; depression; fainting; fast, slow, or irregular heartbeat; fever, chills, or persistent sore throat; one-sided weakness; red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin; seizures; severe or persistent diarrhea or stomach pain; severe or persistent nausea or vomiting; shortness of breath; slurred speech; stomach cramps; symptoms of kidney problems (eg, not able to pass urine, change in the amount of urine produced, blood in the urine, a big weight gain); symptoms of liver problems (eg, dark urine, loss of appetite, pale stools, unusual nausea, yellowing of the skin or eyes); unexplained weight loss; unusual bruising or bleeding; unusual sweating; unusual tiredness or weakness; vision changes.
Prevacid SoluTab orally disintegrating tablets comes with an extra patient information sheet called a Medication Guide. Read it carefully. Read it again each time you get Prevacid SoluTab orally disintegrating tablets refilled. Take Prevacid SoluTab orally disintegrating tablets by mouth on an empty stomach before eating. Do not break, cut, chew, or swallow the tablet. Place the tablet on the tongue and allow it to dissolve until the particles can be swallowed. Prevacid SoluTab orally disintegrating tablets can be taken with or without water. The tablet usually dissolves in less than 1 minute. If you have trouble taking the tablet, you may also dissolve it in water. Place the tablet in an oral syringe. If you are taking the 15 mg tablet, draw up 4 mL of water. If you are taking the 30 mg tablet, draw up 10 mL of water. Shake gently until the tablet dissolves. Swallow the mixture within 15 minutes after mixing. Do not store the mixture for use at a later time. After you take your dose, refill the syringe with 2 mL of water for the 15 mg tablet or 5 mL of water for the 30 mg tablet. Shake gently and swallow. If the patient is taking Prevacid SoluTab orally disintegrating tablets through a nasogastric (NG) tube, follow the instructions for use in the extra patient leaflet. You may take antacids while you are using Prevacid SoluTab orally disintegrating tablets if you are directed to do so by your doctor. If you also take sucralfate, take Prevacid SoluTab orally disintegrating tablets at least 30 minutes before taking sucralfate. Continue to take Prevacid SoluTab orally disintegrating tablets even if you feel well. Do not miss any doses. If you miss a dose of Prevacid SoluTab orally disintegrating tablets, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
