Nilutamide is an antiandrogen. It works in the body to prevent the actions of androgens (male hormones).

Nilutamide is used to treat prostate cancer in men who have undergone surgical castration.

    Some nilutamide side effects may not need any medical attention. As your body gets used to the medicine these side effects may disappear. Your health care professional may be able to help you prevent or reduce these side effects, but do check with them if any of the following side effects continue, or if you are concerned about them:

    body hair loss
    bone pain
    burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
    changes in vision
    decrease in testicle size
    decreased interest in sexual intercourse
    depression
    difficulty having a bowel movement (stool)
    dizziness
    dry skin
    feeling of warmth
    heartburn
    inability to have or keep an erection
    increased urge to urinate during the night
    indigestion
    loss in sexual ability, desire, drive, or performance
    pain
    rash
    redness of the face, neck, arms and occasionally, upper chest
    sleeplessness
    stomach discomfort, upset, or pain
    sudden sweating
    unable to sleep
    waking to urinate at night
