Methenamine is an antibiotic that fights bacteria.
Methenamine is used to treat or prevent recurring bladder infection in adults and children who are at least 12 years old.
Methenamine is usually given after other medicines have been tried without success.

Some of the side effects that can occur with methenamine may not need medical attention. As your body adjusts to the medicine during treatment these side effects may go away. Treating certain bacterial infections. It may be used in combination with other medicines to treat acne or certain amoeba infections. It may be used to prevent certain types of malaria in travelers who will be visiting malaria-infected areas for less than 4 months. It may also be used to prevent or slow the progression of anthrax after exposure. Doryx delayed-release capsules are a tetracycline antibiotic. It works by slowing the growth of bacteria. Slowing the bacteria's growth allows the body's immune system to destroy the bacteria.
