Fluticasone is a steroid. It prevents the release of substances in the body that cause inflammation.
Fluticasone nasal (for the nose) is used to treat nasal congestion, sneezing, runny nose, and itchy or watery eyes caused by seasonal or year-round allergies.
The Flonase brand of this medicine for use in adults and children who are at least 4 years old. Veramyst may be used in children as young as 2 years old. Flonase is available without a prescription.

Bloody mucus or unexplained nosebleeds
shortness of breath
general aches and pains
loss of appetite
White patches inside nose or throat
Symptoms of overdose
excess facial hair growth in females
fullness of face, neck, and trunk
high blood pressure
impotence in males
increased thirst or urination
lack of menstrual periods
Some of the side effects that can occur with fluticasone nasal may not need medical attention. As your body adjusts to the medicine during treatment these side effects may go away. Your health care professional may also be able to tell you about ways to reduce or prevent some of these side effects.
