Caprelsa (vandetanib) is a cancer medicine that interferes with the growth and spread of cancer cells in the body.

Caprelsa is used to treat thyroid cancer.

Caprelsa is available only from a certified pharmacy under a special program called Caprelsa REMS Program. You must be registered in the program and understand the risks of taking this medicine.

    Severity: Minor
    Some of the side effects that can occur with vandetanib may not need medical attention. As your body adjusts to the medicine during treatment these side effects may go away. Your health care professional may also be able to tell you about ways to reduce or prevent some of these side effects.     blistering, crusting, irritation, itching, or reddening of the skin

    discoloration of the fingernails or toenails
    dry mouth
    dry skin
    hair loss or thinning of the hair
    heartburn
    increased sensitivity of the skin to sunlight
