Meclizine is an antihistamine that reduces the effects of natural chemical histamine in the body.

Meclizine is used to treat or prevent nausea, vomiting, and dizziness caused by motion sickness. Meclizine is also used to treat symptoms of vertigo (dizziness or spinning sensation) caused by disease that affects your inner ear.

    You should check with your doctor immediately if any of these side effects occur when taking meclizine:

    Incidence not known:
    Cough
    difficulty swallowing
    dizziness
    drowsiness
    fast heartbeat
    hives
    itching
    puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
    shortness of breath
    skin rash
    tightness in the chest
    unusual tiredness or weakness
    Severity: Minor
    Some of the side effects that can occur with meclizine may not need medical attention. As your body adjusts to the medicine during treatment these side effects may go away.
